Sticker Snowflakes

This was a fun card to do. The stickers are from Magenta and come on a single sheet and these are clear acetate with a silver border. I used some Alcohol Inks in Raisin, Cranberry and Silver and dabbed all over the sheet. This time I did not used the blending solution.
On a piece of vellum, I placed the stickers here and there and then cut it to the size that I wanted. I adhered the vellum piece to a piece of designer paper - Fruitcake by Basic Grey - and then to a piece of Bazzill cardstock, then to silver mirri card and then again to the same pink Bazzill cardstock. I wrapped a piece of ribbon around the bottom but didn't want to do too much on the front of the card as I wanted you to see what it looked like. You could certainly add a sentiment to the ribbon or elsewhere on the card. The nice thing is that this card could be a Christmas card or a birthday card or just a Hi Hello !! card... Have a great day everyone and thank you so much for stopping by !!!

Cracked Glass

This card was done for Splitcoast Stamper's Monday challenge, the cracked glass technique.
I have never done this before and it was fun and I will definitely be trying it out again.
I stamped the trees from Magenta in black ink on white linen paper. I colored them in with markers and used a shimmer pen on the details.
I used a versamark pad to cover the whole piece and sprinkled clear embossing powder all over. I heat set it and immediately after put on another layer of embossing powder. This was done about 4 times until you get a nice clear thick layer. Put it in the freezer for about 5 minutes and take it out and bend the piece until the hardened powder cracks. I used a Versafine's vintage sepia with a paper towel to rub all over and fill in the cracks to give it that vintage look.
The snowflakes were emobssed in white on red linen and again vintage sepia ink was rubbed onto take away some the freshness. I layered the tree to green linen and the whole piece to a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card base and tied some green ribbon around the bottom.
Have a great day everyone and thank you so much for stopping by !!!

Decorator Birds

This set is a clear set from Hero Arts. I stamped the word tree in black archival ink on watercolor paper and used three shades of green Tombow markers to watercolor the tree. I also colored the birds with Tombow markers in blues and pinks and purples. The tree is layered on black, then teal blue designer paper from Magenta, then black again. The birds are cut out and popped up with dimensionals.
The main card base has a snowflake from Penny Black that was stamped in Versamark and then had teal blue PearlEx brushed over them. I used a paper towel to brush off the excess.
Have a great day everyone.. and thanks for stopping by !!

* PEACE *

The snowflakes are from Penny Black and also from Verve Visual. I colored on the stamps with Tombow markers and stamped on white cardstock and deckled the edge. I stamped the PEACE package, also from Penny Black again by coloring the stamp with Tombow markers and stamping on white cardstock and then layering to purple Bazzill. The cardbase is also purple Bazzill. I added a few dot sparklers to the middle of the snowflakes as well. It is hard to see but I used the shimmer pen on the bow of the package.

Have a great day everyone !! I am off to the courthouse today for jury selection *** This is the fifth time I have been !! My name must be at the top of their list and they are definitely not shaking things up enough.

Vintage Santa

This is a new stamp from Stampers Anonymous, the Jim Holtz Collection. I stamped the Santa with Smokey Great Versafine ink on Shimmer white paper. I chalked the background in yellows and blues lightly and colored the Santa hat and coat, the holly and berries and Santa's face with Prismacolor pencils also very lightly. I added glitter on his beard and layered him to a piece of red Bazzill cardstock. I used designer paper from Basic Grey as the background and added some red satin ribbon.
Hope your Sunday is a good one !!

Peek A Boo Box

This is the Peek-a-Boo box when it is closed. I used a small unmounted See D kit and stamped the holly leaves with black ink on green Bazzill paper and cut them both out. I used a red glaze pen to color in the flowers and then attached them to the top of the box.

Here is the inside of my Peek-a-Boo box.

Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge # 25

Beate's challenge this weekend was a Z-fold card. I used an unmounted set from Darcie and stamped the snowman using black archival ink and watercolor paper. I used Tombow markers to color him in and glittered his coat and hat trims.
I used olive chalk to edge the paper and layered him to olive green and pink cardstock and then to the blue card base. The fuzzy sentiment which says "a snowflake is winter's butterfly" is stamped on white shimmer cardstock and secured with olive green grosgrain ribbon and a pink brad. I glittered up some snowflakes from the set and scattered them on the card. Have a great weekend everyone. Tomorrow I teach all morning and then off to dinner with friends. I will be back on Sunday !!!! :) :)

Polished Pigment Ornament

I was playing around with my polished pigments this afternoon and did this ornament with an array of different colors. I like the way it turned out and it will make an really nice hostess gift this Christmas season.

Hallowe'en Baskets

Well what a day so far. My walk, groceries, laundry, ironing, cleaning and just finished putting the tags on these Hallowe'en treat baskets for our neightbors children. I found the baskets at our grocery store, lined them with parchment paper and stuck paper spiders all over. I made a couple of tags and filled them full of treats.
Now that all my Hallowe'en cards have been mailed, candy bought and pumpkin carved ( well tonight for that) I am officially into Christmas !!!
Have a great afternoon everyone and I will post something Christmasy later on.

A Blue Christmas

A while back, Charmaine from Oodabug Alley did a card with her nestabilities so I took my cue from her. I finally received my nestabilities and my stamps from Verve Visual. Here is my attempt with the rectangle embossing die and the Winter Wonder stamps. I masked off the center of the card and stamped the snowflakes so they looked like they were falling in and out..if that makes any sense.

I stamped and embossed on shimmer white cardstock with Versamagic ink in Ocean Blue and Sea Breeze and layered on baby blue and navy blue . The sentiment was stamped on shimmer white in Ocean Blue and a snowflake brad was added. I am looking forward to using all the stamps I received and at getting better at using the nestabilities.

Have a fabulous day everyone and have fun !!!

Birthday Candles

This is a new clear set from Stampendous. I stamped the candles on Shimmer white and colored them with Copic markers, then cut them out. I stamped the dots on shimmer white and layered them onto red Bazzill and again onto shimmer white. I edged the paper with deckle edge scissors and then off centered the piece onto red bazzill. I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment with black archival ink and tied three pieces of ribbon at the top. I popped it up on a bit of an angle. I added some glitter to the one candle and the flames.

This one is going to a friend of mine who is celebrating his birthday in sunny Mexico. Lucky guy !!! Still dreary and rainy here in London but we are supposed to get sunshine today..

Watercolor Butterflies

I was cleaning up my studio this morning and I came across this butterfly from Artful Stamper.

I stamped it twice on watercolor paper and embossed it in Egyptian Gold e.p. I watercolored them and then cut one of the large butterflies out close to the embossing line and mounted it on top of the other one with a glue dot.

I used blue designer paper from Magenta on one side and pink cardstock from my stash of scraps on the other with a piece of blue ribbon with white polka dots down the middle.

I thought about adding a sentiment but I just really like the simple look of this card so I left it alone. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day. The weather here in London Ontario is spectacular !!!!

Beate's Weekend SKetch Challenge # 24

Here is my funky take on Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge.
I love its simplicity and I used the clear set called "Doodle Flowers" from Hampton Art.
I stamped the flowers on watercolor paper and watercolored everything with Peerless watercolor strips. (My hands are now blue and pink)
I layered that piece onto white cardstock and then stamped the flower border also on watercolor paper and just touched them with Tombow markers as there are very tiny and hard to watercolor.
I backed that with some Bazzill paper and also the friends sentiment with the same color paper.
I had to add some glitter in the middle of the large flowers and then I called it a day !!
Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for stopping by...
Don't forget to post a comment with a link to your creations.

Papertrey Blooms

I finally received my stamps from Papertrey Ink and thought I would try out the Beautiful Blooms set for this morning.
I used versamagic inks and stamped the leaves and the small blooms on shimmer white cardstock.
I stamped the larger bloom on yellow cardsstock and used one of the centers in the kit to stamp all over the bloom and then once in the center.
I cut them out and popped up one of them.
I used my notch punch in all four corners and then tied some twine around the card and secured it in the back.
I mounted that piece on Groovy Guava carstock then on Always Artichoke and then again on Groovy Guava.
I used the larger bloom with Versamark ink on the piece of Always Artichoke before I adhered the other two pieces. I really like this set and and can hardly wait to try the other ones that I receved.
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by !!
Get your creations in by the 24th of October. There seems to be a bit of a standstill !!!

Joy in White and Black

I think my two favorite things to put together are black and white. It looks so crisp and clean and fresh.
Thats what I did here with this Christmas card.
The card base is white linen and I embossed the snowflakes stamp from Magenta onto the front of the card with Seafoam White embossing powder.
The vellum is cut the same size as the card but cut on a bit of an angle and has the same snowflake motif as the stamp.
The ribbon is white with white dots and is wrapped around the top. The "Joy" sentiment from Printworks is embossed again with white E.P. on black linen cardstock, layered on white and again on black. Silver brads were put on either side and then was popped up in the middle of the card with some dimensionals.
Have a great day everyone and have fun with your Christmas stamping !!!

This is a closeup of the embossed snowflakes. I used Seafoam White E.P. on white linen cardstock.

Ten Second Pumpkin

Now that's not really true. This pumpkin didn't take me 10 seconds to do but I did haul out all my Ten Seconds Studio gadgets and put together this pumpkin for my Wednesday night class.

It is done with copper metal sheets. I cut out pieces to resemble the parts of a pumpkin and distressed them with the wheels then added some alcohol inks as well.

I added a green piece of metal for the stem and some beading wire for the tendrils. The Trick or Treat sentiment is from a Hero Arts Clear Set.

Gotta run and get to work... Thanks for stopping by and have a great morning!!!

Hallowe'en Pumpkins

Hi everyone. Hope you all had a fabulous weekend. We did but it was BUSY !!!
I taught in our workshop Friday and Saturday. Friday night we went out to dinner with friends to a wonderful Greek restaurant then to the hockey game.
Saturday night we had friends in for dinner and Sunday we did a whole whack of yardwork. Raking leaves, pruning bushes, getting rid of all the stuff that isn't pretty anymore. Then I finished this pumpkin stitchery.... Finally !!
Have a great day everyone and I will be posting a card in the morning...

Beates Weekend Sketch Challenge # 23

This is the "Doodle This" set from Stampin Up.
Beate's challenge this weekend was a wonderfully simple one! I used a robin's egg blue, maybe a little darker, of Bazzill cardstock for the 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" base. Some designer paper that was in my stash. Then a darker Bazzill cardstock was the layer for the white linen that I stamped the flourish on in Chalk ink. The flower was stamped in Chalk ink as well and I colored it with my Copic markers. I added some dot sparklers and the thankyou sentiment from Printworks.
A nice and simple sketch.. Thanks Beate.

Christmas Blues

Stamp Art, the card store where I work, holds card workshops twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. We just finished our fall workshop this past weekend and this is one of the cards that we showed all the ladies how to do.
The card base is a lovely blue and the designer paper is from Magenta. It is a double mate paper so has two sides that you can work from. The flower is also from Magenta and is stamped in Blue Lagoon Versafine ink and colored in tones of blue H2O's. The small flower is stamped with clear embossing ink, covered in clear e.p. and heat set. Blue Fun Flock was put on top of the flower image in a thick layer and heat set from underneath. It was then cut out and popped up in the middle of the larger flower. Silver stickles are used in spots on the large flower, and a stardust pen is used on the all the swirls. The Merry Christmas is stamped on a white oval and edged in blue ink. All is layered on a piece of silver mirri card. It was a great start to the Christmas card season.
Have a great Sunday everyone !!!

I had found my instructions from eons ago so just used those.
I have yet found the time to try to make the lid a little snugger so I will play around with that and let you know.

I NEED FEEDBACK !!

Hello everyone out there in the blogging world... Where are all the comments?? I need feedback.. good or bad.. just want to know that people are looking at my work.. What would you like to see? Folded Origami Box

In my binders full of instructions I came across this recipe for a folded origami box. I can't ever remember making one so I thought I would try it out last night and this is what I came up with.

Black Bazzill cardstock for the bottom of the box, some designer paper for the lid and some ribbon.

I think this would make a lovely gift!!

Have a great day everyone !!

Kim Reid's Pink Cat Studio Contest

This is the card that I did for the color challenge of pink and brown for Kim Reid's Pink Cat Studio Contest.
I used Brown Bazzill Cardstock and a nice pink cardstock that I found in my stash.
I also used the flower stamp and the sentiment from Penny Black and stamped them both in Vintage Sepia ink from Versafine.
I colored the flowers pink with H2O's to give them a little shimmer.
I also added a scroll end from Inkadinkado to the sentiment for added flair.

This is the inside of the card that I did for Kim's Pink Cat Studio Contest.

Just for You Tag and Jacket

The new Holiday Cards Magazine from Paper Crafts is out on stands now and I just loved this tag and sleeve set that was in the magazine. It was a Christmas theme so I changed it up a little.
The sleeve is 5 3/4" square of ivory linen paper and scored 1 1/2" in from one side and 1 3/4" in from the other side.
I used the Flourish set from Autumn Leaves to stamp all over the square piece before crimping it half way.
I used the same stamp pad to add color around the edges. I used thin pieces of double sided tape to close the sleeve on three sides.
I used a scrap piece of designer paper to wrap around and then a piece of ribbon from the Martha Stewart collection tied around that. The flower from "Doodle This" at Stampin Up is stamped on ivory linen and then layered onto a piece of coral velvet paper which you can get at Stamp Art in all kinds of colors. The tag is cut ot fit the sleeve and the flower stamped on again.
The "just for you" circle is from Studio G and I used another piece of designer paper and ribbon from Martha Stewart to complete the top. You could add a gift card from Starbucks and you have a lovely little gift for someone special in your life.
Have a great day everyone !!

You learn something new every day !!

Hi !! I know that most of you ladies out there know that if you click on the card itself it will enlarge and you can get a better look. For those of you that don't know that it is very cool. Just put your cursor on the card and double click and it will enlarge the photo so you can take a better look. I just figured this out a while ago and thought I would share this information.

It is cool and wonderful here in London, Ontario. Just right for stamping !!

Coffee and Good friends...

This clear set if from "My Favorite Things". I stamped it in black archival ink on white cardstock and colored it with the few Copic markers that I have.
I layered the pieces on blue cardstock and then onto some designer paper that I had in my bits and pieces drawer. I really like that blue with white dots.
I added some ribbon the side under the coffee cup and you have a fun card to send to a good friend.
Once again this would be a fun card to add to a gift of a coffee mug and some special coffee. Make up some vanilla sugar and add that too.
Can you tell it going into the Christmas season ??
My mind is just jam packed with stuff to do and make and stitch and stamp !!
Have a great day everyone and thank you for stopping by...

Chicken Soup !!

I thought this stamp from Cat's Pajamas was really cute so I went to my stash of designer papers and found this wonderful paper. It has the feel of felt to it , like a blanket.. I thought this would be a cute card to send to someone who was feeling under the weather.
I used the buckle cards that I got at Stamp Art and adhered the green floral paper to the front of the card.
I colored the chicken in the bowl with Tombow markers, and layered him on some green bazzill cardstock. I attached him to the buckle of the card and added some pink prima flowers.
It would be fun to add a recipe for chicken soup to the inside of the card and add the card to a jar of homemade chicken soup...

Here's a closeup of the tree from my placecards.

Thanksgving Place Cards

These were the place cards that I did for our Thanksgiving dinner. Each card was 3 1/2" by 2 1/2" in dark brown bazzill cardstock. I used some leftover designer paper in an ivory color with a bit of a darker design. I used the fall tree from "A Tree for all Seasons" from Stampin Up and stamped them in Vintage Sepia ink from Versafine on ivory linen paper. I just gave each tree some color in reds, oranges and greens and then layered them again on dark brown cardstock. I used my computer to do everyone's name and then layered on dark brown cardstock as well.
I thought my U.S. Friends might like these especially with their Thanksgiving holiday coming up.
Have a great day everyone and thanks for stopping by!!!

Thankyou in Flowers

This is an unmounted set from Sugar Loaf..
I mounted all three flowers on one acrylic block and stamped them on Shimmer white paper in black archival ink. I colored the flowers with Prismacolor pencils and added some clear glaze pen here and there.
I mounted the stamped image and sentiment on brown bazzill cardstock and then the flowers again on designer paper, then a pale pink textured cardstock and then again on brown bazzill cardstock.
Have a great night everyone...

Tie-Dye Birthday

After all the rich colors of Thanksgiving and Autumn I felt in a very colorful mood this morning. So after vacuuming, and getting my son back to school I made this card for my Godfather's birthday.
The set is a clear set from Stampendous and I used black archival ink which is waterproof. I stamped it on watercolor paper and used Tombow markers and water to color the happy and it turned out looking very tie-dyed. Very cool !!
I layered it on papers that matched the color of the markers and VOILA !!!!
Maybe another card later on.....

We Gobbled and now we are Wobblin' !!!

Hello everyone !! No cards today... We had a fabulous Thanksgiving celebration yesterday. Good food and drink and company. The weather could not have been better. We got out last swims in the pool and today are just relaxing and cleaning up the last of the dishes. We got to spend time with my two gorgeous nieces and my younger son. My older son called and spoke to his brother and we talked to him today. He is in the States so wasn't home... It was wonderful to have my parents here, my mother - in - law and my brother and his wife.
It was a day that was truly blessed.

I will be back in my studio tomorrow and will post something then.

Have a great night.

The Witch is In !!

I found these cheap and cheerful stamps at Micheal's and just had to whip together this cute card for Hallowe'en. $ 1.50 - WOW !!!
The sentiment reads " The Witch is In" .
Lime Green Bazzill cardstock is the base with some Hallowe'en designer paper layered on orange.
The shoes and sentiment are stamped in Archival black ink on orange cardstock then layered on purple.
I used a brad and some orange twine to make a holder for the shoes and added some gold stickles to the shoes.
Have a great evening everyone !!
I got my cinnamon rolls made, the soup and all the shopping done, ironing too. That's right Ma, there won't be any ironing for you it will all be done !!!

Thanksgiving in Canada.. !!!

I am going to try to post a few cards Thursday and Friday but if I don't please forgive me !! My family is coming to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday so I will be cleaning, cooking, crafting ( placecards and treat bags for my nieces) and getting things in order for the big feast. That includes chicken breast stuffed with three cheeses and herbs with a pear sauce, roasted carrots, parsnips and fennel, mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy for the men in my life, salad with dried cranberries and blue cheese, homemade rolls ( I hope) and lemon meringue pie, pumpkin pie and pineapple upside cake for dessert. :) :) I will be up early tomorrow so I hope to get a few cards done to post as well. My younger son will be home to join in the festivities. My older son will be working hard on papers and studying for exams in Ohio and won't join us until American Thanksgiving so I get to cook turkey and mashed potatoes again for him...

Have a great evening everyone and thank you again for supporting my site. !!!

Buckle Card

Here is a closeup of the buckle card and the part that has already been cut out for our convenience.
Anything that can be done in advance is ok with me !!

Baby Oh Baby !!

I work at Stamp Art in London Ontario and most weeks we get in new shipments of stamps and paper and embellishments. You name it, Stamp Art has it.
Anyway we got a new bunch of stamps in yesterday from Cat's Pajamas and I used this cute buggy stamp to whip up this quick and easy baby card.
The card itself is new in the store as well. It is called a buckle card and comes already prescored and the buckle part already cut out. The cards are ivory so I used some designer paper from Daisy Bucket Designs to cover the card on two of the three panels. I attached a prima flower with a mini brad on the front and there you have it !! Oh yeah - the buckle cards are available at Stamp Art as well !! Have a great day and thanks for stopping in !!

2007-10-02

10 Minutes or Less !!

It is only 7:20 am and it is still dark outside and rainy so this picture is very dark.
I am off to work so did a very fast card with a cute clear set from G Studio ( Hampton Arts) I used purple and key lime versamagic inks on the flowers, swirls and sentiments on white linen paper. It was matted on navy blue Bazzill and then on some scrap designer paper I had in my bucket. Some purple grosgrain ribbon wrapped around and tied in a knot. The base card is white linen.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day !!

Kim Reid's Challenge # 4

This is the card that I did for Kim's # 4 challenge.
Brown bazzill cardstock is the base and then I added some designer paper and two strips, one a deep yellow and a deep orangey red. I used the fall tree from "A Tree for all Seasons" from Stampin Up and colored it with Tombow Markers. I layered it on the same colors of cardstock and added ribbon loops to the bottom. Luckily I found the same colors of ribbon to match the paper.
I added the sentiment "A warm hello" from Hero Arts to the bottom layered on the deep red paper. I doodled a from around both the tree and the sentiment.
Have a great day !!!

Wool Applique Santa

Here is the other project I completed. I used hand dyed wools for this Santa and stitched all the pieces with a small blanket stitch. I used some handmade beads for the holly berries and Santa's eye.
Have a great day everyone!!

Christmas Projects...

Yesterday I spent completing a few of the many Christmas projects that I have started. Here is a punchmeedle project.. I have a list of the frames that my husband makes for me and then I can get all of these projects framed!!
