My mother has this crazy thing about birdhouses. She buys them and keeps them all over the house. One year, I was working in a school and the kids made birdhouses to sell at a fundraiser, so I sought out the ugliest one I could find because I didn't want that kid to think no one wanted his birdhouse, and I bought it for my mom. When I gave it to her and explained why it was so awful, she cried and displayed it in a place of honour in the living room.
